Down on Raglan Road
There's a light that shines
A beacon in the darkness
For these troubled times
You'll get alms for oblivion
You'll get alms for the poor
Just take your begging bowl
You'll get alms for sure

Hymns to the silence
Prayers for the dead
Is anyone listening
To what's been said?

Down on Raglan Road
On a winter's night
Only be one window
Showing any light
Just knock upon the door
When you've reached the end
When you ain't got nothing
Not even a friend

Songs of redemption
Psalms full of praise
Crocks full of shit
Fires ablaze

Down on Raglan Road
Yeah, that's the place to be
When you hit the skids
When you're just like me
Keep an open mind
As you scrape and bow
Cause it don't mean nothin' anyhow.

13. Down On Raglan Road
(McGowan) Some kind of dark folk, but pretty pretty anyway. The strings are lurking around the corner making the athmosphere right to where it should be. This guy is a music maker! -- Jore

I based the strings for this on Donovan's 'Cosmic Wheels' album (which has a track called 'The Music Makers'!) Bits of Van Morrison ideas in the lyrics (and title as well), though I don't think it sounds anything like him, and a steal from Shakespeare. The guitar is tuned FBbC#FBbC# - which is pretty weird – even for me –Davy
